Nanci S. Guest MSc, PFT, CSCS is the owner of "Power Play - Nutrition, Fitness, Performance" in Toronto, ON / Vancouver, B.C. Since 1995 she has provided individuals and the community with nutritional consulting and personal training services, as well as seminar presentations, research services and consulting for the development of sports nutrition foods and products. Nanci was the creator of OptimumTM ReboundTM Post-Exercise cereal by Nature’s Path (winner of 2006 healthy innovation “Canadian Grand Prix New Products” reward). Nanci has written over 50 articles on fitness and nutrition for a variety of websites, newsletters, and local and national publications. September 2005 - present Nanci will be instructing* in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia (Sports Nutrition - 4th year students) and the Kinesiology and Physical Education Dept. at the University College of the Fraser Valley (Nutrition - 2nd/4th year students).
Nanci has also received an official position as Head Sports Nutrition Consultant for preparation and service to Canadian and foreign athletes prior to and during the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics to be held in Vancouver / Whistler.
Nanci is certified as a personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA), and CANFITPRO. She has also completed her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (USA) in order to work with more advanced athletes.
Her education at the University of British Columbia (UBC) includes a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition, and 2 years of undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Kinetics (exercise physiology/athletic performance/training injuries/bioenergetics). Nanci is also currently working on completion of her competencies toward becoming registered as a dietitian, and a member of Dietitians of Canada. She has also attended over 60 local and international workshops and conferences, in the areas of nutrition, health, fitness and advanced athletic conditioning.
Nanci presents locally at high schools, fitness facilities, and to university students and athletes at UBC, Trinity Western University, and Langara College in the areas of fitness and nutrition, with a special interest in nutrition and athletic performance. She has also presented to various amateur and NHL hockey players at summer and rookie camps through her former affiliation with Twist Conditioning Inc. www.sport-specific.com (owned by Peter Twist - former Vancouver Canucks Strength & Conditioning Coach). Nanci also serves as the nutritionist for various fitness clubs, running clubs and private institutions in Vancouver, BC.
Personal training services are provided to the general public, in addition to more advanced strength and conditioning programs for recreational and competitive athletes. These services are provided in a private facility, with state of the art equipment located at Cambie and 8th Ave in Vancouver, BC (see fitness page for more details), or in the privacy of your home or residence gym. All equipment is provided for in-home training.
